In addition to our broad range of destructive
testing capabilities, Structural Composites offers economical non-destructive field
testing for composite structures and components. Our data collection equipment can be
mounted to hulls, decks, bulkheads, and any attached component or structure such as engine
mounts. Critical response data, including acceleration, stress, strain, natural frequency
response and g-loads, are obtained through field trials using custom designed test
programs and data collection/reduction routines. Specific client needs are easily and
affordably accommodated through made-to-order test programs.
Key Benefits
Capabilities
Our independent composite materials testing laboratory is
equipped with a wide range of specialized test equipment to obtain physical and mechanical
testing properties of composite laminates and structures. Tests are performed in
accordance with industry specifications and standards, including ASTM, MIL-SPEC, ISO,
FTMS, SACMA, ABS, DNV and others. Among the important properties of composites that we can
measure through destructive testing are:
- Flexural strength and modulus
|
- Salt spray, humidity & accelerated aging & weathering
|
- Tensile strength & modulus
|
- Heat distortion and softening point properties
|
- Compressive strength & modulus

- Resin and gelcoat properties (blister, hardness, viscosity, fineness of grind, opacity,
film cure, etc.)
